Therefore, when it comes to research and innovation, we rely on the staff of our company, which uses advanced computer systems and applications dedicated to computer aided design for products, to be increasingly effective.
The entire design process is the result of the cumulative efforts of these top specialists, all products being designed and developed in accordance with THE national and international norms and standards within the company’s own department of research and development.

AEM is a symbol of the city and a global provider of gas and electricity meters.
It has been four decades since tradition met innovation, four decades since the first meter came off the production line, which certifies the maturity of the company.
AEM, located in the western part of Romania, was founded in 1970 and is an important symbol of Timisoara.
From its foundation until today, AEM has been recognized both in the territory of Romania and abroad as one of the leading manufacturers and a global provider of electricity and gas meters.
The tradition continues today, AEM’s target is to enter new markets. In this regard, AEM uses strategies to enter the market through participation in international fairs and exhibitions, presentations and seminars of potential customers or through participation in various pre-qualification processes.

Vision
Since the foundation in 1970, AEM has aimed to work with dynamism and passion on the global market of energy metering devices and beyond. Due to the high level of process integration and latest generation equipment, the company dynamically adapts the range of products according to the performance and quality standards required by the customers and the markets in which it operates.
To do this, the company relies primarily on its employees: their enthusiasm and labour power, and their commitment to the customer allows AEM to consolidate its leading position within the market. Also, much of the energy of the company is dedicated to innovation; we are constantly looking to exceed expectations.
Integrated company
We can proudly say that we are an integrated company and control the entire production process, from the design and development of the products to their packaging, so the integration of the manufacturing process is currently 100%. This way we can deliver performance transformed into high quality, added value to products, usability, competitive products and innovation.
The range of products includes the latest generation meters for measuring energy, gas and electricity. Over time, AEM has maintained and developed the whole range of products to the highest technical and competitive level. The production process has several steps:
The production process is comprehensive and integrated. The first stage of this process is the design of products and their development, which is performed within the research and development department of AEM.
The design is entirely made by the specialists in the company, using computer systems and computer aided design applications.
AEM has the technical and organizational capability to design and produce the whole product family that makes up the company’s portfolio, and to maintain and develop them to the highest technical and competitive levels.
“Building for the sake of building” can be called the second stage of the production process, which means building and processing the materials and tools necessary for manufacture. This stage takes place entirely within AEM’s factory and is performed by experienced engineers in the field who make sure that all the materials needed to continue production are available.
Therefore, products are designed and manufactured entirely within AEM with advanced equipment and technology.
After processing the tools and materials needed to start the actual production process, production moves to the manufacturing of the parts for the meters. The products, including AEM parts, are manufactured to comply with the highest quality standards.
AEM produces both meters for exported energy metering and remote reading systems with the possibility for the consumer to remotely disconnect.
One of AEM’s values is quality, thus it made a significant investment in a waste water treatment plant for the water generated by the galvanic covering workshop at the highest technological standard.
Metal subassemblies are galvanized electrochemically using an automated installation. This process makes the metal surface immune to corrosive agents, and painting has a much better adherence than on untreated surfaces.
Powder coating completes the process to ensure the protection of the metal assemblies.
Once the parts have been galvanized and painted, they pass to the assembly process. Electronic equipment is assembled in special workshops equipped with automated assembly systems and antistatic protection, and assembly processes are carried out by staff with specialized experience in this regard in ergonomic and ventilated environments.
Since this stage of the production process is performed to high standards, AEM invested in modernizing the assembly workshop for gas meters, by equipping it with the next generation semi-automatic installation.
Metrology and calibration of meters is an important stage in the production process, ensuring a high level of precision of measurements.
Metrological testing and calibration of gas and electricity meters, cold water and hot water meters, and current transformers, is achieved with high performance automatic and computer aided test equipment.
The personnel responsible for metrology and calibration of the meters is authorized by the Romanian Bureau of Legal Metrology.
Packaging is the last step of the production process. Since this is an integrated system, the products are also packaged within AEM, under normal conditions. Starting with the first stage of the production process, research and development and to the last stage, packaging, all the steps are made with precision by well trained personnel.
The meters are manually packed into cartons that are environmentally friendly and made from recyclable materials. This process ensures the protection of the products in order to preserve the original quality.
